This summer, I was among five panelists to speak on “Collective Management Organizations” to a group of foreign government officials at the USPTO. The officials came from several dozen countries, Azerbaijan to Trinidad, Argentina to the Ukraine. My part was to explain the role of Theatrical Publishers for dramatists, as a rough analog to, e.g., ASCAP for musicians.
Of course, it was an honor to be asked to speak for a second time and it was an honor to meet these foreign government officials furthering their knowledge of U.S. copyright and trademark law.
