AI Roundtable, (Wednesday, October 23, 1 pm): I will speak on copyright and Artificial Intelligence for the AI Roundtable series hosted by Digital Content Creators. I hope to cover topics such as when copyright is affected by AI contributions, proper registration with the Library of Congress, and current efforts to balance artists’ concerns against the benefits of generative AI. You can register for this roundtable at https://www.digitalcc.us/roundtable.
Technoeconomics®, (Friday, November 15, 1:30 pm): I will attend the Technoeconomics® online symposium https://www.technoeconomics2024.com/agenda/), an all-day event, focusing this year on how to catalyze IP monetization throughout the lifecycle of an intellectual property asset. Specifically, at 1:30 pm, I will participate on a panel titled “Market Development & Maximizing IP Monetization.” As with previous years, I have some free and discounted passes for the event. Also, as in prior years, these passes go fast, so please get in touch with me at davefaux@dhf-law.net if interested.
Siegel on Entertainment Law: In 2018, I was honored to contribute a chapter on “Fashion Law” for the legal treatise Siegel on Entertainment Law. Six years later, I’ve accepted the opportunity to update my chapter for a new edition. The new chapter still looks at brand protection under copyright, the Lanham Act, patents, trade secrets, and the standard structure for a trademark/e-commerce license. It will also include detailed commentary on influencer contracts, developments in “conceptual separability” case law, and more.
