Technoeconomics®: Artificial Intelligence
Last Autumn, I was pleased to participate once again in the Technoeconomics® Symposium, this time with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. My takeaway was that artists and other creators have no idea how pervasive AI already is and how much it will expand. Average people are looking to invest heavily in all things AI. I still have my doubts that this new technology could ever replace Vincent Van Gogh, Stanley Kubrick, or Toni Morrison. However, there’s a lot of acceptable mediocrity out there from sitcoms to beach books, and it seems like creatives in those professions are already nervous, partly evidenced during the recent WGA strike. I regularly meet with national guilds, unions, and associations to discuss ongoing trends that could affect copyright. Contact me at davefaux@dhf-law.net if you have any questions.
Copyright Registration Walkthrough
For a while, I’ve been performing “walkthroughs” wherein a client hires me for an hour to share my screen and walk them through the Library of Congress’s registration process for copyright. I always tell clients that the process is not rocket science, but the Copyright Office doesn’t make it easy. If you have one copyright, then it’s cheaper to hire me to do it, and certainly takes less of your time. However, if you foresee having regular need to register your copyright, then it might be worth it to experience one of these walkthroughs, showing you the details of how to do it yourself.
